10 reasons I like my...

'Mahfuzah, you really worked very hard for this placement. You are doing really well up to this week.' said my Educator 1.

'Yes, you dont have to stay until half past 4 every day. You've done long hours everyday. You can just go home if you want to do your work at home.' said my Educator 2.

Week 3 of my placement at a special school in Penarth. Berbezanya placement kali ini dengan sebelum ini:

1. Placement ni kat sebuah sekolah pendidikan khas ----> exciting, fantastic, wondeful!!!! Dulu kat hospital ---> booooring...

2. Saya ada 2 educator yang observe performance saya kali ini.. ehee..very challenging..need to keep my work to the same level as theirs...in fact..saya terkejar-kejar mereka berdua setiap kali 'writing case note report session', and sometimes saya jadik pening dengan jadual assessment harian sebab dua-dua ada kanak-kanak yang mereka observe berasingan..hadeihh. Dulu, saya ada satu je educator....

3. Placement ni 4 hari je seminggu...which I found really COOOOOOL!! I have 3 days for weekend!! Dulu, 5 hari seminggu...tapi ok je 5 hari seminggu pun!!

4. Placement ni saya kena mula pukul 8 pagi sampai 4.30 petang which means I have to get up at 6.22 am every morning to catch the bus to Penart
h at 7.22am!!!! Dulu...saya mula placement pukul 9 sampai 5!!!

5. Placement ni saya deal dengan children age ranging from 3-18 years old!!!! They have Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Learning Difficulties and other rare Syndromes, for example Rett Syndrome. Dulu, saya deal dengan orang-orang tua (Elderly Care), orang luka otak (Brain Injury) dan juga orang masalah kesihatan mental (Mental Health).

6. Placement ni, saya berpeluang untuk evaluate sistem pembelajaran pendidikan khas di sini (UK), bagaimana mereka belajar, apa mereka belaja
r, kurikulum mereka, ko-kurikulum mereka dan lain-lain lagi...evaluate the pros and cons, benefits and things related....which I think, it's a good start for me before I go further in the Jabatan Pendidikan Khas and challenge our Special Education's Syllabus in Malaysia!! Oh..I really hope that will become REAL one day!!!!! Inshaallah~~ I will make my sponsor (KPM) value their funding on me to study here~~ Inshaallah~~

7. Placement ini, saya banyak sangat guna bas...ulang alik Cardiff-Penarth which took me 25 minutes ride on bus to get there. Not bad!! Having great time exploring Penarth after I finish placement everyday..hehe...

8. Placement ni, I get along with other Speech Therapist, Physiotherapist, Special Education Teachers, nurses and other staffs really well!!! Such a wonderful place to have my placement!!!

9. Placement ni, saya masuk kelas kanak-kanak ni..nak tau mereka belajar apa?? Sungguh menarik!!!! During Art, mengecat ikan besar menggunakan sponge.. Learning geography around school and taking photograpssss!! Swimming!! Main Wii~~~ Oh ye..please remember that, semua aktiviti yang mereka b
uat ni akan di'assess' oleh Occupational Therapist dari segi hand functions, seating position and etc!!! Bayangkan anda bermain wii bersama mereka sambil observe improvement dari segi functional movement and cognition!!! Saya suka ini~~~~~~

10. Placement ni, saya tak payah pakai 'uniform' OT..haha!!! I hate being in that green trousers and white tunic!!!!! But the most important thing i
s...I still practice my faith here!!! I have my own little space for solat during 10-minute break whenever I am not doing any assessment on children!! And I still keep my beautiful veil on to cover my hair as a Muslim. Hmmm...I know that this one OT student (confidential matters to mention her name here) said that I have to put my veil off just because of the service demand!!!!! Disagree!!! I have firm reasons for that~~~
